Manish Kumar — Founder of Lease & Joy
My name is Manish Kumar, and my journey with animals began in my childhood, inspired by my grandfather, a respected veterinarian in rural India. Growing up in a farming family, I developed a deep connection with animals and a passion for their well-being.
In 2017, I pursued my academic studies at the University of Veterinary and Animal Science where I specialized in animal behaviour, medication, and nutrition. After completing my studies in 2019, I began my professional career at Pet Clinic in 2020.
In early 2022, a life-changing experience led me to dedicate my skills to a non-profit NGO, where I volunteered my services free of cost to rescue and care for street animals. This period strengthened my commitment to animal welfare and community service.
By 2024, due to family financial circumstances, I moved to Canada and began working at Manoir Kanisha in Montreal, QC, a well-respected pet boarding facility that had been serving families for over 35 years. I was deeply inspired by the owner’s dedication to providing affordable, compassionate care.
Later, I relocated to Victoria, British Columbia, to continue my studies.My deep love and passion for pets made it all the more concerning to see that many providers in the pet care industry were charging excessively, raising questions about accessibility and fairness for pet owners.Motivated by this gap, I decided to establish my own pet care service with the mission of offering affordable, reliable, and compassionate care—creating strong bonds between pets and their families while ensuring accessibility for all.
